Socialite and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chiefpriest, has expressed his readiness to undergo a DNA test to resolve the long-standing paternity dispute involving a Kenyan woman, Hellen Ati.

Chiefpriest made the declaration on Monday in comments posted on a media organisation’s Instagram page after a viral video of Ati appealing for assistance was discussed on a national television programme.

In the video, Ati said she was overwhelmed by the responsibility of raising her son alone. She disclosed that the child was ill and that she had exhausted her resources on medical treatment. She appealed to Chiefpriest to accept responsibility if the boy was confirmed to be his son.

Responding to social media users urging him to take a DNA test, Chiefpriest stated that he was willing to do so publicly.

“Make Una help me bring her & the child for una studio make I come there come do the DNA for una on live TV for free,” he wrote.

One Instagram user advised him to put an end to the controversy by agreeing to a DNA test, arguing that the matter was damaging his reputation and affecting his family.

In response, Chiefpriest maintained that he would not send money to anyone making allegations against him online. He insisted that if Ati believed he was the father of her child, she should bring the child to him rather than continue making videos on social media.

He further argued that he had no obligation to fund a DNA test, saying the burden rested on those seeking to establish paternity.

The latest development is the newest chapter in a dispute that has lingered since 2023.

Ati has repeatedly claimed that her son was conceived following a brief encounter with Chiefpriest in Lagos in 2022. She has consistently called for a DNA test, saying she has struggled to care for the child without support.

Chiefpriest has repeatedly denied knowing Ati or fathering her child, insisting that the allegations are intended to damage his marriage and public image.

The controversy resurfaced in January 2025 during Chiefpriest’s social media feud with singer Burna Boy. During the exchange, Burna Boy publicly backed Ati’s demand for a DNA test and reportedly offered to facilitate her trip to Nigeria, although the arrangement did not materialise.

Ati has also alleged that shortly after the birth of her son in January 2023, Chiefpriest sent her N300,000 in instalments for baby supplies after she sought financial assistance following childbirth complications, despite allegedly denying paternity.

Over the past year, she has repeatedly taken to social media to renew her calls for a DNA test, reaching out to some of Chiefpriest’s associates and family members while seeking support for the child’s welfare.

Although Chiefpriest continues to deny the paternity claim, he now says he is prepared to undergo a public DNA test, provided Ati brings the child to the agreed venue.
