Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, daughter of President Bola Tinubu, has criticised the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections in Lagos State, alleging manipulation of results in favour of a faction within the party.

Tinubu-Ojo, who is the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, made the remarks on Wednesday during a weekly meeting with market leaders and stakeholders in Alausa, Lagos.

The APC recently concluded its primary elections for various positions, including governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives, and state assembly seats. However, the exercise has been marred by allegations of imposition and electoral irregularities in several states.

Addressing party members and stakeholders, Tinubu-Ojo called for the dissolution of the Justice Forum and the Mandate Group, two influential political blocs within the Lagos APC.

She alleged that members of the Justice Forum were favoured during the primaries because Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, who is believed to be a leading contender in the party’s 2027 governorship race, is affiliated with the group.

According to her, the outcomes of some constituency primaries were altered despite clear victories recorded by certain candidates.

She specifically mentioned Seye Oladejo in Mushin Constituency II, Mutiu Olaide Oladeebo in Agege Constituency II, and Olotu Ojo in Ojokoro Constituency, insisting that they legitimately won their respective primaries.

“We are ready to protest because we know these candidates won their elections. Their mandates should not be taken away from them,” she said.

Tinubu-Ojo also expressed concern over what she described as the growing influence of the Justice Forum within the party, alleging that some members of the Mandate Group were defecting to the rival bloc due to perceptions about the party’s future leadership.

She urged party leaders to ensure fairness, inclusiveness, and unity within the APC, stressing that political leadership should accommodate all members regardless of factional affiliations.

The Mandate Group and the Justice Forum are regarded as the two dominant political tendencies within the Lagos APC. Although all political groups within the party were officially dissolved in 2020, the factions have continued to wield significant influence in the state’s political structure.

The dissolution followed the reorganisation of the Mandate Group by former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, reportedly without the approval of Bola Tinubu, who was then the national leader of the APC.
