The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, wanted over allegations of abuse of office and diversion of public funds.
In a notice published on its official website on Saturday, the anti-graft agency stated that Farouq, 52, who hails from Zamfara State, is being sought in connection with ongoing investigations into financial misconduct.
The EFCC listed her last known address as EN008, Okpo River, off Agulu Street, Maitama, Abuja, and urged members of the public with useful information on her whereabouts to contact its offices through designated phone lines provided in the notice.
“Anybody with useful information as to her whereabouts should contact EFCC offices,” the commission said.
Farouq was appointed Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development in July 2019 by former President Muhammadu Buhari and served as the youngest member of his cabinet at the time.
Her declaration as wanted follows an earlier development in which a Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Apo, Abuja, on April 16, 2026, issued a warrant for her arrest after she reportedly failed to appear for arraignment.
