The Plateau State Government has filed terrorism-related charges against five suspects arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) in connection with the killing of dozens of people in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, in March 2026.

The attackers had stormed a popular bar in the area, killing several patrons and injuring many others in what authorities described as a coordinated assault.

The charges were instituted last Friday, weeks after President Bola Tinubu visited Plateau State and assured residents that those responsible would be brought to justice.

According to court documents, three of the defendants—Isa Umar Ibrahim, Auwalu Abubakar, also known as Auwalu Dogo, and Musa Abubakar Ibrahim, also known as Yaroro—are facing charges of criminal conspiracy to commit terrorism and other related offences. The suspects were arrested between April 3 and April 10.

Another defendant, Adamu Isa Alhassan, is facing additional charges including criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, illegal possession of firearms, and unlawful dealing in arms and ammunition.

The state Attorney General, Philemon Daffi, who filed the charges, stated that the alleged offences contravene Sections 269 and 270 of the Plateau State Penal Code Law, 2017.

The prosecution alleges that the accused conspired to plan, organise, finance, and execute the attack carried out on March 28 in Angwan Rukuba, which resulted in the deaths of more than 30 people.

In a separate count, Alhassan is accused of participating in a series of armed attacks across communities in Riyom and Jos South local government areas between 2025 and early 2026, leading to multiple fatalities.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said security agencies are continuing efforts to apprehend other suspects still at large.

He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property through sustained security operations nationwide.
