The All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed May 15 and 16, 2026, for its presidential primary election ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The timetable, released via the party’s official X handle and detailed in a statement signed by its National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, outlines a sequence of pre-primary activities, including the sale of forms, screening of aspirants, and appeals.

According to the schedule, the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms will take place from April 25 to May 2, while the deadline for submission is May 4. Screening of aspirants is slated for May 6 to 8, with results to be published on May 11. Appeals arising from the screening will be heard between May 12 and 13.

The party also released dates for other primaries: House of Representatives on May 18, Senate on May 20, State Houses of Assembly on May 21, and governorship on May 23.

The APC pegged the total cost of presidential nomination forms at ₦100 million, comprising ₦30 million for the expression of interest and ₦70 million for nomination. Governorship aspirants are expected to pay ₦50 million, while fees for other elective positions vary.

The party noted that female aspirants, youths, and persons with disabilities will pay the full expression of interest fee but enjoy a 50 per cent discount on nomination fees.

It stated that the timetable was developed in compliance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Electoral Act 2026, and guidelines issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), reaffirming its commitment to conducting “credible and transparent” primary elections.

As of the time of filing this report, no aspirant has formally declared for the APC presidential ticket. However, several party stakeholders have endorsed the incumbent, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for a second term. Although Tinubu has yet to make an official declaration, he recently dismissed suggestions that he is apprehensive about opposition challenges ahead of the election.
