Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has alleged that former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience Jonathan, were responsible for his exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), claiming they took control of the party’s structure in Rivers State.

Amaechi made the allegation on Friday during an interview on ‘The Morning Brief’, a Channels Television programme, where he said the former president and first lady influenced the political leadership of the PDP in the state, resulting in his ouster.

“The country knew what happened. I was literally chased out of the PDP,” he said.

When asked who was responsible, Amaechi replied: “The president, with his wife. They took over the political structure in Rivers State and chased me out. The president, Goodluck, and his wife handed over the structure to other people, so I moved.”

He further said his experience was linked to his role at the time as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, adding that he eventually left the PDP amid the crisis. Amaechi later joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) and is currently aligned with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
