The Plateau State Government has announced a relaxation of the curfew in Jos North Local Government Area, following a relative return to calm after recent violent attacks in Angwan Rukuba.
According to a statement from the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Ramnap, the revised directive allows residents to move freely between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., while the curfew will now be enforced from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Authorities have urged residents to engage only in lawful activities during the permitted hours and to comply fully with the curfew. Governor Caleb Mutfwang has directed security agencies to ensure strict enforcement of the order to safeguard lives, protect property, and maintain peace in the area.
Residents are also advised to remain indoors during curfew hours, cooperate with security personnel, and provide information to support ongoing security operations.
The curfew was initially imposed following deadly attacks in parts of Jos North, particularly Angwan Rukuba, which claimed 33 lives. While recent days have seen sporadic violence in other areas of Plateau State, including Jos South, Barkin Ladi, and Riyom, officials describe the current situation as calm but tense, with intensified patrols and surveillance ongoing.
This latest adjustment follows an earlier partial easing of the initial 48-hour total curfew imposed in the wake of the Angwan Rukuba attacks.
