The Ogun State Executive Council has approved the renaming of the Sagamu–Iperu–Sapade Expressway as the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Expressway, in honour of the President.

The decision follows an earlier announcement by the state government to rename the Artery Bypass, made during the commissioning of the Gateway International Airport and other major projects last Saturday.

In a related development, the Council also approved the renaming of the former Aviation Village in Iperu after the late Oba Adeleke Idowu Basibo, in recognition of his contributions to community development.

As part of efforts to improve electricity supply, the Council sanctioned the procurement of 50 electricity transformers under the Light Up Ogun Project, aimed at enhancing power distribution across the state.

The Executive Council further approved the acquisition of official vehicles, including 20 Suzuki Grand Vitara and 12 Toyota Fortuner units, to support administrative operations within the public service.

In the area of traditional governance, the Council approved the declaration of the Olu of Odeda stool in Odeda Local Government Area. It also ratified several traditional leadership appointments, including Prince Adeyemi Ibikunle Opeaye as the Oludotun of Idotun in Ikenne Local Government Area, Chief Yaya Oriyomi as the Olu of Mowe, and Bashorun Peter Oluwole Ogunbayo as the Odemo of Ishara.

The decisions underscore the state government’s ongoing commitment to infrastructure development, improved public service delivery, and the strengthening of traditional and local governance institutions.
