Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday took control of a residence in Maitama, Abuja, belonging to former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, as part of ongoing investigations into alleged financial misconduct.

The operation, reportedly led by EFCC official Folarin Dare, saw heavily armed personnel deployed to the property in no fewer than five buses. Witnesses said the operatives barricaded the road leading to the residence, effectively restricting movement within the area.

The property, located at No. 2 Koranakh Close, off Amazon Street in the Maitama district, was sealed off, with access denied to residents and visitors.

Sources indicate that the move is linked to efforts by the EFCC to secure the forfeiture of the property amid a broader probe into alleged financial improprieties involving the former AGF.

The EFCC has yet to issue an official statement on the development as of the time of filing this report.
