Scores of the All Progressives Congress (APC) members in Ose and Akoko South-West Local Governments in the North senatorial district of Ondo State have dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as Governor Olusegun Mimiko announced multiple projects for the district at the PDP campaign rallies which ended in the area on Thursday.
Addressing a rally in Owo, Governor Mimiko, who led the PDP campaign to Owo Local Government Area of the state, declared that the contract for street light in the town would be awarded soon.
Also speaking at the PDP rally at Oke Agbe, the headquarters of Akoko North-East Local Government, Mimiko said his administration would complete the Ikare- Ajowa Road, dualise Ikare township roads, rehabilitate Ikare-oke Agbe road and upgrade the Comprehensive Health Centre at Oke Agbe to General Hospital among others.
He said he would use his link with the Federal Government to ensure that the rehabilitation of the Ikare-Oke Agbe road, which actually was a federal road, was completed and thus, charged that President Jonathan needed their votes to enable him to complete the ongoing transmission of the sub-station project in Oke –Agbe.
At the campaign rally with unimaginable large crowd held at Oke Mapo area of the ancient town of Owo, Mimiko said it was more profitable to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan and other PDP candidates in the state, stressing that Jonathan deserved a second term because of his performances despite economic and security challenges.
At Ifon, headquarters of Ose Local Government and venue of the council area’s rally, Mimiko assured the people that he would leverage on the Federal Government’s connection to establish extractive industries in the Northern part of the state which, he said, was blessed with abundant natural resources.
He said a General Hospital would be established in Ifon and be properly equipped soon.
Over 2,000 leaders and members of the opposition APC dumped their party for the ruling PDP at the mega rally held in Oka, headquarters of Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The rally was attended by a large crowd and was held at the Old Secretariat Ground in Ibaka quarters in Oke-Oka.
The decampees were led by two House of Assembly aspirants of the APC, Mr Taju Epe and Mr Balogun Arogunjo.
Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Hon Epe said he and his team has come to join the winning team of PDP as he declared that there is no road again in his former party.
He boasted that his team will work for the success of all PDP candidates in the coming elections.
Also speaking, Hon Arogunjo said he thanked God that he has seen the light and followed it. He assured the PDP leaders at the rally that he has come to add value to the party and to ensure that PDP wins the forthcoming general elections.
Earlier, all the leaders of Akoko South West LG who spoke at the rally declared that the people will vote enmasse for PDP candidates in the coming elections.
Caretaker Chairman of the council, Wale Suuru said his people will vote massively for PDP candidates to appreciate the appointment of their son as Chief of Staff to the President and other appointees from the council area.
He urged the people to translate the large crowd at the rally to massive votes for all PDP candidates in the coming elections.
The Campaign train will move to the Southern Senatorial District of the state today.
