Senior Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, Hon Kingsley Kuku, has commended Borno and Adamawa states youths for their collaboration with the military, which is yielding results in the on-going war against the Boko Haram insurgency.

Urging youths from all the states ravaged by the insurgency to collaborate with the military, Kuku decried the raging Boko haram insurgency, saying that past administrations before Jonathan made conscious effort to destroy our military.

He spoke yesterday in Lagos after at an inter-ethnic nationalities consultative conference where a coalition of Yoruba pressure groups, the Oodua Democratic Coalition (ODC) endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan as its candidate for the 2015 presidential polls.

Said Kuku: “Past administration made conscious efforts to destroy our Air force and the Army, adequate training was not given to the military and they hoped on the police. They were also not aware that one day, something like Boko Haram will come up. When the Militants were disturbing, Dr Jonathan, as the vice president, was sent by the then President, late Umar Musa Yar’ Adua to go and talk about amnesty to his people which he did. They should also talk to their people for peace. The president wants amnesty for Boko Haram but how can you give amnesty to faceless people?’’

Endorsing Jonathan, the ODC said: ‘’Following the unprecedented achievements of Mr. president and the laid out agenda and plans for national development, we hereby as a coalition endorse the president and continuity of Mr. President in office till 2019.”

Leaders of the ODC further anchored their decision on the ‘’need to ensure that the transformation agenda which is visible across all sectors is sustained and further encouraged to be consolidated by preventing awon akotileta (quislings) in our midst from truncating it all because of selfish and personal reasons and further reiterate our position as Yoruba people on where we stand.’’

In a communiqué signed by Morgan Omodu, the group also called for total participation of all and sundry in the forthcoming elections and peace among all ethnic nationalities and particularly those within the South-west because it is only in an atmosphere of peace that development is possible.
