Former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has joined a protest in Aba, Abia State, calling for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Footage circulating online shows Sowore amid the demonstrators, who are advocating for Kanu’s freedom. The protest was organised by a coalition of Kanu’s supporters under the banner “Coalition of Lovers of Freedom and has been tagged the “One Million March.”

The demonstration follows the recent conviction of Kanu on terrorism-related charges, for which he was sentenced to life imprisonment by a federal court.

Organisers have stated that the protest aims to amplify public calls for Kanu’s release, reflecting continued national attention on his incarceration.
