The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has upheld the suspension of former National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Anyanwu, along with the party’s National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade; Deputy Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha; and National Organising Secretary, Umaru Bature.

In its ruling on Monday, the appellate court affirmed the earlier judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja delivered by Justice James Omotosho, which validated the suspension of the party officials.

The appellate court also upheld the October 31, 2025 judgment of the Federal High Court that restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising the outcome of the PDP’s 2025 National Convention.

The officials were initially suspended by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP on November 1, 2025, amid internal disputes within the opposition party.

With the latest ruling, the Court of Appeal has effectively sustained both the suspension of the affected party leaders and the Federal High Court’s directive barring INEC from acknowledging the outcome of the party’s 2025 convention.
