A former National Director, Department of State Service, Mr. Toyin Akanle, has said that good governance will address the developmental challenges of Nigeria.

He added that many political leaders were more interested in their personal gains than in good governance and delivery of dividends of democracy to the people.

Akanle, who is the senatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party for Kogi-West senatorial district in Kogi State, spoke in Ilorin on Thursday after being endorsed by Okun people residing in Kwara State.

He lamented the alleged poor representation of his people, saying he would offer better representation if elected.

Akanle said, “In everything we do, we must think of equity, fairness and justice. Most of the developmental challenges we have today is because of lack of fairness and lack of equity. That is why the struggle is here.

“There is nowhere that people are marginalised either in development or patronage in terms of national development that the people will not rise to kick against the system.”

A consultant at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Prof. Albert Anjorin, who is one of the spokespersons of the Okun people, also said for fair play, equity and justice, the senatorial seat should rotate to Yagba-East.

He stated that two people from Koto/Lokoja and Bunnu/Junmu/Kabba had served two terms each at the Senate adding that it was now the turn of Yagba people.
