The Federal Ministry of Education has reaffirmed its commitment to working with state governments to ensure access to quality education for every Nigerian child.

In a statement released on Sunday, signed by the Director, Press & Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, said the government would strengthen federal–state collaboration to tackle the challenge of out-of-school children.

Commending the Committee of States’ Commissioners of Education in Nigeria for convening its maiden peer-learning webinar, Alausa said the initiative was “timely and aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda, reinforcing the Ministry’s mandate to guarantee access to high-quality education for every Nigerian child.”

He added that addressing the out-of-school children problem requires “coordinated reforms, shared accountability, and evidence-based interventions across all levels of government,” stressing that “the complementary role of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education in supporting targeted programmes cannot be overlooked.”

The minister also highlighted the importance of “harmonised implementation, data-driven planning, and continuous knowledge exchange” to ensure effective state-level interventions.

The webinar, according to the statement, will feature presentations from Gombe State and the National Commission, offering practical insights and a national perspective to guide policy implementation.

Alausa concluded that the Federal Government “remains resolved to work collaboratively with states to ensure inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all Nigerian children.”
