Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged supporters to avoid internal attacks on Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and himself, warning that such divisions weaken opposition unity and threaten Nigeria’s democratic progress.
In a post on his X handle, Atiku said those who insult either Obi or himself “do not have the best interests of the leaders, the coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), or the country at heart”.
According to him, internal divisions only serve the interests of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, which he accused of benefiting from discord within the opposition.
“The only persons who benefit from such a civil war are the APC urban bandits who want to maintain the satanic status quo,” Atiku wrote.
He stressed the need for solidarity among opposition figures and supporters.
“We are better together,” he stressed in a renewed call for unity ahead of future political engagements.
