As Nigeria steps into the New Year 2026, the President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Pharm. Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, FPSN,
has extended thoughtful New Year greetings to pharmacists across the country and Nigerians at large, calling for renewed dedication to service, excellence, and national health advancement.
In his New Year message, Pharm. Ibrahim described the beginning of 2026 as a moment to reset priorities, strengthen resolve, and recommit to the values that define the pharmacy profession.
“A new year offers us a fresh canvas — an opportunity to build on our collective experience and to recommit ourselves to improving lives through safe, ethical, and patient-focused pharmaceutical care,” he said.
He acknowledged the contributions of pharmacists across all sectors — community, hospital, industry, academia, regulation, and public health — noting that their role remains central to Nigeria’s health system resilience.
“As pharmacists, we are entrusted with the health and confidence of the people. In 2026, we must continue to raise standards, embrace innovation, and work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure better outcomes for our patients and communities,” Pharm. Ibrahim stated.
The PSN President also encouraged professionals to approach the year with optimism, continuous learning, and unity within the profession, stressing that growth in pharmacy practice must go hand-in-hand with ethical responsibility and national development.
“As we move forward, may 2026 be a year marked by professional growth, personal fulfillment, sound health, and impactful service. Together, let us keep strengthening the voice, relevance, and contribution of pharmacy to Nigeria’s healthcare future,” he added.
He concluded by wishing pharmacists and Nigerians a purposeful and rewarding year ahead, expressing confidence that collective effort and dedication will make 2026 a year of meaningful progress for the profession and the nation.
