Trial Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday ordered security operatives bundled the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, out of the courtroom after he insisted that the judgement would not be delivered in the terrorism case filed against him by the Federal Government.

Following Kanu’s continuous outbursts demanding that the trial judge indicate where the law stated that he was not permitted to submit a written address in his defence, the court briefly suspended proceedings to allow security personnel to remove him from the courtroom.

Justice Omotosho paused the hearing after issuing a ruling that rejected new applications Kanu filed even though the case had already been fixed for judgement.

The court held that the applications raised matters previously brought forward by the defendant.

It also refused Kanu’s plea to send the case to the Court of Appeal, noting that Section 306 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, prohibits the suspension of proceedings in criminal trials.

The court equally refused the defendant’s request for bail, saying it would, in the course of the judgement, consider some of the issues Kanu raised in his motions.

As the judge attempted to commence the reading of the judgement, Kanu stood his ground, shouting that the court had no jurisdiction to decide the case without admitting his written address.
