Sir (Dr.) Lucky Eseigbe, the Chairman of the Opening Ceremony for the 26th Annual National Scientific Conference of the Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria (AHAPN), emphasized the importance of addressing healthcare challenges.
This message was shared during his remarks, delivered by Mr. Igberaese George, the former permanent secretary at Human Resource Management on August 5, 2025, at the SIO Event Center in Benin City, Edo State.
“It gives me pleasure to be present here in Benin, the heartbeat of the country,” Eseigbe stated, highlighting the significance of the location for the conference.
Acknowledging his non-pharmacist background, he expressed honor at being among healthcare leaders dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of citizens. “The theme of the conference isn’t only timely but critical in addressing the current healthcare challenges in Nigeria,” he underscored, emphasizing the need for cutting-edge approaches that guarantee fairness, sustainability, and improved patient outcomes in the delivery of pharmaceutical services.
Eseigbe noted that healthcare must evolve to meet the diverse and growing needs of the population. “Innovation in pharmaceutical care—whether through technology, research, or new methodologies—should bridge the gap and ensure that no patient is left behind,” he asserted.
He commended the AHAPN for creating a platform to advance professional knowledge, improve service delivery, and advocate for patient-centered healthcare. “Your profession plays a vital role in the healthcare value chain; beyond dispensing medicine, pharmacists are at the forefront of promoting responsible drug use, ensuring medication safety, and enhancing health outcomes,” he stated.
He viewed the conference as a proactive approach to strengthening the healthcare system through knowledge sharing, collaboration, and innovation.
On behalf of the Edo State government, Eseigbe expressed unwavering support for policies and environments that promote the growth and relevance of all healthcare professionals, including pharmacists. “The government is deeply committed to enhancing the quality of healthcare in Edo State, and we will continue to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure our people have access to safe, effective, and quality healthcare services,” he affirmed.
Concluding his remarks, Epseigbe expressed hope that the outcomes of the conference would significantly contribute to the advancement of pharmaceutical care in Nigeria, reinforcing the collaborative efforts necessary for a thriving healthcare system.
