Dr. Owosibo hosts NASU members at Federal College of Animal Health

In a significant display of collaboration and support for non-academic staff, Dr. Olatunde Adekoya Owosibo, Provost of the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Moor Plantation, Ibadan (FCAH&PT) hosted members of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) Oyo State Branch for their 2025 First Regular Meeting.

Held at the institution on Thursday, July 17, 2025, where Dr. Owosibo was honored with an award for his unwavering dedication to promoting the welfare of NASU members within the college.

Addressing the assembly, Dr. Owosibo expressed gratitude for the choice of venue, stating, “I welcome you all to this citadel of learning and consider it a privilege that you choose this college for your meeting. I wholeheartedly embrace this gathering, reflecting the esteemed performance of NASU members in our community.”

Dr. Owosibo acknowledged the vital role that NASU plays within the college, emphasizing their status as a formidable partner in progress. “In a system like this, we have partners for progress, and NASU stands out as notable and strong. The Oyo branch of NASU has continually supported and motivated me in my role, and I appreciate the current NASU executive for their commitment to consultation and collaboration in achieving our goals.”

Highlighting the college's rich history, he mentioned, “This college was established on April 1, 1964, and we have been growing stronger ever since. We operate approximately 19 programs and have produced around 70 PhD graduates—and the number continues to grow. Our capacity is robust, allowing us to compete effectively with other universities.”

Dr. Owosibo, serving as the chief welfare officer of the college, reaffirmed his commitment to the staff’s professional development and advancement. “During my tenure as Provost, no one has been denied promotion for the past five years. I have seen the importance of ensuring unhindered opportunities for my staff, aligning with my goal to improve their welfare and professional growth,” he stated.

He also underscored the vital contributions of NASU members, noting, “The impact of NASU members on our institution cannot be over-emphasized. In your respective roles, do not see yourselves as ordinary; instead, view yourselves as significant contributors to our mission.” He encouraged staff to excel in their positions, indicating that their commitment would lead to great opportunities in the future.

The meeting included discussions on key concerns affecting non-academic staff, demonstrating a unified front in addressing the challenges within the sector. Dr. Owosibo concluded his address by expressing his hopeful outlook for ongoing collaboration between NASU and the college management, fostering an environment where all staff can thrive.
