Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was clearly frustrated after Rob Van Persie’s last-gasp equaliser rescued a point for Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Van Persie struck just after Branislav Ivanovic was sent off for a second bookable offence following a foul on Angel Di Maria.

The Blues had gone ahead through Didier Drogba’s header and had earlier felt they should have had a first-half penalty after Ivanovic was wrestled to the ground by Chris Smalling.

“The red card, I was seeing it coming,” Mourinho said after the 1-1 draw,
“If I have to speak about the second yellow card I have to speak about lots of things; the penalty that Ivanovic should have been given, the accumulation of yellow cards, the throw-ins.

“I know I speak always with my heart and get in trouble.”

With Manchester City having lost at West Ham on Saturday, a Chelsea win would have taken them six points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

But Mourinho insisted: “We don’t look to others, we look to ourselves.

“Old Trafford is one of the most dangerous fixtures we’ve had. The result is not the result we wanted, but the way we performed means we don’t need to look to others.

“After nine matches of the league with four points difference and have played away at Manchester United and Manchester City.”
