Former Nigerian senator representing Kogi west, Dino Melaye, says the agenda of bringing President Muhammadu Buhari to power in 2015 is the “greatest scam in Africa”.

Melaye stated this on Friday when he featured on a Channels Television programme.

Melaye, now a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had left the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2018.

While speaking on the programme, he also apologised to Nigerians for supporting the “Buhari agenda” in 2015, adding that “once I was blind; now I can see”.

“To start with, I apologise to God almighty, who is the supreme leader of the universe, and to Nigerians for supporting Buhari,” he said.

“The Buhari agenda is the greatest scam that came out of Africa. The Buhari [for] president in 2015 is the greatest scam that came out of Africa.”

The PDP chieftain said he wondered why anyone would keep supporting the president, despite the recent happenings in the country.

When asked if he spoke in the same manner when he was in the APC, he answered in the affirmative.

“I spoke like this when I was a member of the APC, and because I am Christian, and the Bible is supreme and to me, the Bible is superior to the Constitution of federal republic of Nigeria,” he said.

“And it talks about unequally yoked. Darkness and light do not concur, so I have to leave the darkness and I’m into light.”

‘APC IS AN NGO, NOT A POLITICAL PARTY’

Melaye also described the APC as a non-governmental organisation (NGO) and not a political party, adding that the party has no national leadership, which he said is against the principles of the Nigerian constitution and that of the APC.

He also accused the APC of sowing the seed of discord in the PDP.

“The APC is an NGO. We all know it is an NGO. It is an NGO because it is not a political party. As I speak to you today, the party is yet to organise a convention,” he said.

“They were supposed to do it in December; they postponed it. Now, it is not going to happen again maybe till December.

“The party has no national leader, no national elected executive council. It is being run by a caretaker committee, which is unconstitutional to their own constitution and the Constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.”
