The Gambia Received One Million Dollars Donation From Taiwan

CEOAFRICA.com received news from the Gambia that the country’s Minister of Presidential Affairs, General and Head of Civil Services, Momodou Sabally has received a sum of US$ 500,000 on behalf of the Gambia government from Taiwan government.

It was discovered that the presentation was made on behalf of Taiwan government by the Ambassador to Gambia, Samuel Chen, and it is the final part payment of the US$1,000,000 grant this year allocated to the education sector by the ROC government.

 The grant will also assist the Gambian government to hire experts in higher education and management for the country’s higher education institutions, and to develop needed expertise in special fields and tertiary education institutions, and also in developing needed expertise in special fields and tertiary education in serving the national interest.

Speaking at the presentation of the cheque, Samuel Chen said, “Education is the key for national development, and higher education can be the momentum of national development.”

In addition to that, he was also delighted about the kind of dedication the Gambia has shown in developing her human resources through higher education.

“I hope that this fund will help to equip The Gambia with enough resources to enhance the development of the country,” he added.

After receiving the cheque, Sabally expressed his gratitude, on behalf of the Gambia government to the Taiwan government for the kind gesture.
