Lebanon’s information minister has today resigned following the country’s aftermath of the distressing blast which has attracted public anger and protests with aftermath violence and death.

 The mounting public anger and tension against the ruling elite and the blame for the chronic mismanagement and corruption believed to be behind the explosion in a Beirut Port warehouse are signals for the resignation.

Manal Abdel-Samad in her letter of resignation said that change remained “elusive” and she regretted failing to fulfill the aspirations of the Lebanese people.  She explained that due to the magnitude of the catastrophe caused by the Beirut earthquake which has set the Lebanese nation in disarray and has grievously hurt the hearts and minds of the people, also in response to the public will for change,  she did tender her resignation from the government.
