Tunisia’s customs system will be fully digital before December, said the Statistics and IT director with the Directorate General of Customs, Salem Dridi.

The state-run Agence Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) reported that customs clearance will be quicker once the new system is up and running.

All steps of customs clearance will be performed using cutting-edge technology. Dridi disclosed that as much as USD 4.5 million in funding will be supplied by the World Bank.

“It will shorten the time of customs clearance of goods and digitise all its stages,” Dridi told TAP. “Once the call for tenders is finalized and the contract with the supplier signed, the system will be implemented,” he said.
