The National Union of Pharmacists, Medical Scientists and Professionals Allied to Medicine (NUAHP), has on Thursday declared an indefinite strike across all tertiary health facilities in the nation.

The Union revealed this in the statement to the journalists on Thursday, stating that the decision was taken in reaction to the failure of the Federal Ministry of Health to meet its demands.

According to the content of the statement “Declaration of Indefinite Strike,” signed by the National President of the Union, Comrade Felix Faniran; General Secretary, O.C. Ogbonna; and other executive members, the union had given the Federal Government an Ultimatum which was later extended by 15 days because the Ministry of Health complained.

The union said that it had no other alternative than to declare an indefinite strike since the ultimatum has expired, noting that the National Secretariat directs all units, states and geopolitical zones of NUAHP to proceed on industrial strike action as from 8.00 am today, 16 August, 2013.
