Boy, 17-year-old marries 16-year-old girl in Anambra

A 17-year-old boy, identified as Somto and his 16-year-old fiancée, have tied the knot traditionally according to Nnewi customs and tradition, over the weekend.

According to reports, Somto hails from Nwachukwu family in Okofia Village in Otolo Nnewi.

It was also reported that the groom is the last child of his parents.

Somto was said to have dropped out of school last month, insisting that he wants to get married.

After mounting serious pressure on his family, his request was granted.

The family decided to accept his request, and also sponsored the traditional marriage in which the public was invited.

According to reports, Somto is not the only son of his parent, since he has an elder brother, who is said to be a graduate and is currently working in a Hospital within Anambra State.

Reports have it that after the traditional marriage, the parents of Somto opened a retail shop for the couple to manage and possibly take care of themselves.

Though the name of the bride and her place of origin is yet to be ascertained, it was confirmed that she was only just 16 years old.
