SRDC organizes her 12th International summit for the year 2019

The Sixth Region Diaspora Caucus SRDC, an African caucus that seeks to organizing the diaspora and building coalitions to foster true unity among African people has organized her 12th International summit for the year 2019.

The 2019 SDRC international summit was held between 25th – 26th October 2019 at the International Longshoremen’s Association Hall in Charleston, South Carolina.

Among the issues discussed at the summit includes: the continuing work on the establishment of Liberia’s first Public Library, a project being spearheaded by Sehwah-Liberia and the South Carolina chapter of SRDC; the continuing work toward establishing an Afrikan-Centered Curriculum; SRDC’s continuing work toward establishing our voice in the African Union and United Nations; the development of a Cooperative Coalition model to help bring our many and varied organizations together in a unified, comprehensive strategy; the economic platform of the Pan African Business and Trade Center (PABTC) among others.

At the conference, Shewah Liberia represented Liberia and made the case for National Public Library for Liberia.

Meanwhile, it was stated that AU will raise the fund for the project and technical assistance will be provided by the SRDC. So the National Library project is the collaborative efforts of Sehwah Liberia, the government of Liberia, the AU and SRDC.

Participants at the workshop include Dr David Horne, President of SRDC, Ms Louis MacMillan Siaway, Executive Director of Sehwah Liberia, Sophia Togba MawlueMinister Counsellor Liberian Embassy, Nvasekie Konneh addressing the conference, Althea Romeo-Mark, Konorfi Keita, Neileh Daitouah-Director General,Center for National Documents and Records Agency/National Archives, Mr Henry G. Swaray-Director of Programs & Projects,Center for National Documents and Records Agency/National Archives, Sophy Pink and Abdullah Sarnoh, others.
