Hollywood veteran actor Rip Torn has died at the age of 88.

The Men in Black actor’s publicist Rick Miramontez confirmed the news that he died on Tuesday at his home with his wife, actress Amy Wright and his daughters by his side, report reveals.

The Academy-award nominated actor who has over 191 credits to his name is best known for his role as Agent Zed in Men In Black and HBO's The Larry Sanders Show.

In 1996 he won an Emmy award for his role in the sitcom.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, he helped establish the career of his cousin Sissy Spacek.

Will Smith, Seth McFarlane, Rob Schneider and Mara Wilson were amongst the celebrities who paid tribute to him on social media.
