The Ekiti state Governor, Kayode Fayemi has been elected as the new chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF).

Later at night on Wednesday during the forum’s meeting, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state was also chosen as the deputy chairman of the forum.

Speaking at the end of the meeting, Fayemi expressed the pleasure regarding the belief and confidence the forum has in him, stating that both he and his deputy are stepping into the big shoes vacated by the erstwhile chairman and Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari.

Fayemi said his administration will build on Yari’s commitment to a strong associate with the federal government.

He noted that he and Tambuwal were unanimously chosen, and they “represent Nigeria no matter the political persuasion.”

The Ekiti State Governor promised to work with development associates for the interest of the country.
