Italy’s envoy to Ethiopia, Arturo Luzzi said that several Italian business personnel want to invest in Addis Ababa, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Ethiopia on Tuesday reported on social media.

Representatives from more than 30 Italian private companies will come to Addis Ababa in June, to sound out business opportunities in the Ethiopian economy, Luzzi said.

According to the text, the diplomat held a meeting with Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Ergogie Tesfaye, and both agreed to prepare project proposals mainly aimed at creating jobs, for further discussion and implementation.

Tesfaye thanked the long-standing relations between the two countries and the Italian government's support for the strategy to stop irregular migration in north-central Ethiopia, a project jointly financed with the European Union.

He further stressed the need to find a possibility to extend that program to the southern route, where there is also a high illegal migration, according to the social media's report.

The minister also proposed that the two states should work to create options so Ethiopian professionals can train and work in Italy, by virtue of the Italian experience with other African nations.
