Buhari’s 2019 victory: Another person dies amidst celebration in Adamawa

SATURDAY’S PRESIDENTIAL POLLS-         A deputy Imam has reportedly lost his life in an accident in Mubi, Adamawa state during a celebration rally for the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari at last Saturday’s presidential poll.

Residents reported that a firewood trader who deputised for the Imam of one of the mosques in Shuwari quarters died on Wednesday from injuries he sustained in an accident that occurred on Tuesday

Malam Adamu, an elderly man was crossing the road when a group of youths celebrating the electoral victory drove carelessly on tricycles and frightened him, forcing him to step backward only to be hit by another passing tricycle which was not part of the rally.

Witnesses said the tricycle that hit him was driven by an elderly man who was also trying to avoid collision with others participating in the rally.

“The man was buried today (Wednesday) and the funeral was attended by the driver.

“It was not intentional because both the victim and the driver where running away from danger.

“Government should do something to control such celebrations”, a resident, Faruk Mubi said.

The Police spokesman in Adamawa state could not be reached for comment as at the time of filing this report.

In Jada town, some All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters slaughtered rams and chickens to organise special feasts as part of celebration for the re-election of President Buhari.
