#Presidential Election: Police deploy over 6000 in Bauchi

Bauchi State police command has deployed over 6000 personnel to provide security during Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Ali Aji Janga disclosed this at a Press Conference in Bauchi on Friday.

“The Bauchi state police command wishes to assure the general public that it has put in place adequate security measures for peaceful conduct of the coming Presidential/National Assembly and Gubernatorial /State House of Assembly elections slates for Saturday 16/02/2019 and 02/03/2019 respectively across the 20 local government areas in the state,” he said.

According to the police commissioner, additional senior police officers, including an Assistant Inspector General (AIG) and DIGs, have been deployed to the state as part of measures to ensure hitch free elections in the state.

He said there will be a total restriction on movements of people and vehicles from 12 midnight on Friday, February 15th to 5 pm on Saturday, February 16th.

According to him, the same restrictions will be places 12:00 midnight on Friday, March 1st, 2019 to 5:00 pm on Saturday, March 2nd, 2019.

CP Janga noted that, only eligible registered voters and personnel on essential duties will be exempted from the restrictions.
