The son of legendary Afrobeat musician, Fela Kuti had taken to social media to apologize to fans who were expecting his performance at the Grammy.

Kuti explained that he had missed the performance due to a mix up at the airport which made him miss his flight. He further revealed that he was not able to do his rehearsals.

The singer however congratulated the Soweto Gospel Choir, the group that won the award he was nominated for at the Grammys.

The Afrobeat superstar had been nominated for a category in the 2019 Grammy Awards.

Report has it that Seun lost the win to the Soweto Gospel Choir who won the award for Best World Music Award category.

Apologising, Kuti said: "First and foremost I have to say I am sorry to all the fans that tuned in to see us perform yesterday but didn’t. I had the weirdest ticket mix up in history meaning I missed my flight and the rehearsals and we couldn’t go on. Big up to Soweto Gospel choir a group that has also inspired me. @fatoumata_diawara__for holding down our show without me. @lekanbalogun1 @mccoyclothings for making us look really nice on that red carpet @versatilebay for @chefyeide clothes. @egypt80band and our entire team we must keep banging the door till they let us in."
