At least a good number of journalists and civil society organizations on social audit have undergone training aimed at monitoring and ascertaining impact of government projects, policies and contracts have direct impact on people, the Centre for Democracy Development in Africa (CDDA) has this in their report.

CDDA representative, Lukman Adepolaron, affirmed  the primary objective of social audit is for the benefit of the community which must be carried out in collaboration with the communities.

He said: “Social audit is all about performance improvement with the outcome measured. It’s not always about the physical structure but the impact it must create in the society. Is the community being carried along in the awards of those contracts?

“What impact are those contracts having to the community? Are the projects put to use? Did the contractors delivered on the term of contracts? Once this is properly carried out, corruption will be minimizing in our society.”
