Nigeria President Muhamadu Buhari’s Presidential rally in Jos on Saturday was disrupted by hoodlums who stormed the stadium with all manners of dangerous objects, chanting solidarity songs and rough handling the crowd of party faithful

Buhari who came to the stadium with the leaders of his party could not have access to the presidential podium, which was taken over by the hoodlums. He managed to waive to his supporters as he was smuggled out of the stadium by security aides.

The National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole and the Director General of Buhari Presidential Campaign  Organisation, Rotimi Amaechi could not give their speeches at the event as they were also helpless and could be seen to be complaining about the unruly behavior of the crowd.

Governor Simon Lalong  also could not give his speech as he hurriedly followed Buhari out of the stadium along side other dignitaries.

A statement later issued by Femi Adesina, media aide to the president said, “President Muhammadu Buhari extends heartfelt appreciation to the people of Plateau State, who turned out in innumerable numbers to welcome him in Jos, during his presidential campaign visit on Saturday.”

“The Rwang Pam Township Stadium, venue of the event, was completely overrun by a sea of humanity, made of ecstatic supporters of the President, who kept hailing the man they love and admire. So much was the tumult that the President could not eventually address the crowd”.

He said the president after waiting for about an hour, with the melee not receding, but rather increasing in tempo and fervour, “President Buhari received illustrious Plateau citizens who were crossing to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from other political parties, waved at the appreciative crowd, and left for Abuja.”

He said the president lauds Plateau people for turning out in their thousands to welcome him into Jos, lining the roads right from the airport, defying the boiling sun.

”President Buhari sues for greater restraint from teeming supporters and appreciative Nigerians in other campaign stops ahead, pleading that they allow the campaign programme run as planned, since it is also an opportunity for him to give a stewardship report,” he added
