Anambra state wins SUBEB schools debate

The Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board has emerged winner of the 2018 School Debate Competition which was held in Anambra State as part of activities to reignite the reading and debating culture in Nigerians.

SUBEBs from Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom, Oyo, Katsina, Benue and Plateau states, as well as the Nigeria Police participated in the competition.

The competition saw Anambra’s SUBEB team go home with N200,000 and a trophy; the first runner up, Benue State’s SUBEB team, bag N150,000  and a trophy, while Plateau State’s SUBEB team go home with N100,000 and a trophy.

The event was attended by the  Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, who was represented by the Head of Civil Service, Mr Harry Udu; the Former Minister of State for Education Prof. Jerry Agada; the Commissioner for Education of the state, Prof. Kate Omenugha; the National Coordinator President’s Schools Debate Nigeria,Mr Dare Oritu; and the Executive Secretary,  Universal Basic Education Commission, Mr Hammod Boboyyi, represented by Mrs Bolanle Ishola.
