Alhaji Rilwanu Adamu, Emir of Bauchi, has appealed to the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP) to consider the plight of students when taking some decisions.

‎Adamu made the appeal when the National executive committee of the SSANIP, led by its National President Sunday Sabo, paid him a courtesy visit in Bauchi on Saturday.

‎“I employ you to consider the interest of your students and brainstorm on the way forward during your meetings.

‎“That will make Polytechnics the desired institutions of learning for our children and wards,” he said.

‎He also urged members of the association to support the sector’s policies and management of the Polytechnics in the task ahead.‎

The monarch noted that education was key and prerequisite of development, particularly the polytechnic, which was practical and when fully harnessed could stimulate national development.‎

Earlier, Sabo said they were in Bauchi to deliberate on issues that would move polytechnics and Nigeria forward.

‎“We urge you to add your voice to our decisions as that will bring positive changes to the sector.

“We believe in dialogue and pushing for the betterment of Polytechnics in terms of infrastructure, teaching materials and equipment; that is why we need your support.

To also address matters such as the NEEDS Assessment and other pending issues between the government and the polytechnic staff,” he said.

‎The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that SSANIP’s 58th National Executive Committee and General Executive Committee (NEC/GEC) meeting is being hosted by the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi.
