Ghana’s former President, John Dramani Mahama has eulogised former President Goodluck Jonathan as an unusual politician.

President Mahama made this assertion on Tuesday at the 61st birthday and presentation of Jonathan’s memoire titled ‘My Transition Hours’ in Abuja.

“President Jonathan is a man whose life took a trajectory no one would have predicted ending up in the highest office of the land as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

“President Jonathan is more of an academic that found himself as a politician; he is not your typical politician,” he said.

He said Ghana and Nigeria are like twins with similar trajectories, similar paths, similar coups d’etats and similar situations in the way and manner both him and Jonathan emerged as presidents after the unfortunate deaths of their principals, President Umar Yar’Adua and John Atta-Mills.

“President Jonathan brought a certain level of reasonableness and level-headedness to politics. He believes politics is not a matter of life and death. So the decision he took following the 2015 election was not surprising to me at all,” he added.

In his remark, former Head of State, Abdulsalam Abubakar described the former President as one who loved his country more than himself.

Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson announced the donation of land title for the establishment of the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation (GJF), and the sum of N100m takeoff fund to the foundation.

The governor also purchased 1000 copies of the books and the sum of N5 million monthly grant for the foundation.

The 15-Chapter book published in the USA details the major experiences of the Jonathan presidency and the intricate events of the few hours of his concession to his opponent in the 2015 general elections, President Muhammadu Buhari.
