Gov Dickson names officers for Bayelsa medical university

Bayelsa state Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson has approved the appointment of Prof. Ebitimitula Nicholas Etebu , as the acting Vice Chancellor for the newly established medical university in the state.

He also approved the appointment of Dr. Akpoebi Adesi, as the acting registrar for the institution.

According to a statement by the governor’s special adviser on media relations, Fidelis Soriwei, Prof. Etebu, untill his appointment, was the Bayelsa state commissioner for health.

A fellow of the International College of Surgeons, Prof Etebu, had served as the medical director at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Yenagoa from 2006 to 2014.

He is a Professor of Pathology, who had lectured at the department of health sciences, University of Port Harcourt for many years.

The statement said that the new acting Vice Chancellor, who is a member of several professional associations with many academic publications to his credit, was also the Head of Anatomical Pathology Department, University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital.

It also described Prof. Etebu’s appointment as part of the efforts by the state government to lay a solid foundation for the Bayelsa State Medical University.

Similarly, the Governor also approved the appointment of Dr. Akpoebi Adesi, as the Acting Registrar of the Bayelsa State Medical University.
