The Kano state house of assembly has summoned the Editor-in-Chief of Daily Nigerian, Mallam Ja’afar Ja’afar, to appear before it over the video released by the online newspaper alleging Governor Abdullahi Ganduje is involved in a bribery scandal.

The invitation was extended to Ja’afar by the committee set up by the Kano State House of Assembly to investigate the authenticity of the video clip released by the news platform.

The committee’s Secretary, Mujtafa Aminu, made the disclosure during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Friday.

Aminu said the committee had in a letter dated Oct. 19, 2018 requested Ja’afar to appear before the committee on Thursday, Oct. 26 at the Assembly’s Complex.

On the issue of safety to the journalist’s life, he assured adequate security had been provided as the committee had already visited the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Rabi’u Yusuf, and the state Director of DSS with a view to soliciting their support to provide security at the Complex, venue of the sitting.

The assembly had on Monday constituted a seven-man committee to investigate the matter.

The online news outfit had published the video clip, which has now gone viral accusing Governor Ganduje of receiving bribes amounting to $5 million from state contractors.
