NYSC grants service award to 10 corps members in Gombe

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Gombe state has granted State Award to 10 out of the 1,121 of the 2017 batch B corps members who passed out on Thursday.

The Gombe state coordinator, Mr David Pwanidi, said on Thursday that the decision to grant them the award was informed by the various projects the corps members executed in their areas of primary assignment.

He said that four other corps members were given certificates of commendation while the best performing female corps member in Community Development Projects bagged the First Lady’s ward.

“Ten Corps members who executed projects were given state honors award, four of them certificates of commendation and the first lady’s award goes to the overall female corps member in Community Development services”, he said.

According to him, the service year of three corps members was extended as punishment for committing various offences.

He called on the outgoing corps members to take advantage of the skill acquisition and entrepreneurship programme to become self- reliant.

In his remakes, Malam Yakubu Abba, Permanent Secretary, General Service, representing the state Head of Civil Service and Chairman, NYSC Governing Board, congratulated the corps members and urged them to be good ambassadors of the NYSC.

He also advised them to be dedicated and hardworking to enable them attain their desired goals in life.
