Senator Olufemi Lanlehin has emerged the Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC in Oyo state for the 2019 election.

According to the Chairman, Screening and Primary Committee,  Barr. Peter Oyewole, Lanlehin emerged after a keenly contested primary with 12 other aspirants.

He opined that the ADC is the party to beat as far as the Oyo state governorship race is concerned. Oyewole noted that the party is on a rescue mission and urged the good people of Oyo state to join hands with the party to rescue the state from what he called " dictatorial and anti-people leadership" style of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC which has thrown the state into socio-economic crisis.

The National Chairman of the party, Chief Ralph Nwosu lauded the qualities of Lanlehin, adding that the leaders and members of the party at state and national level were united on the choice of Lanlehin as the party's flag bearer in the coming election.

"I call on the great members of our great party to support our governorship candidate in the interest of the party and the good people of Oyo state. Ours is a very vibrant party as shown by the intense activities surrounding the Primary in the state. We are one and we will work with one voice to win the election in 2019," Nwosu said.

In his acceptance speech, Lanlehin promised the people of Oyo state that he will run a people-oriented government and carry out projects that will impact on the lives of the people and make their welfare a priority if elected Governor.

"I will run an inclusive government and carry out projects that will impact on the lived of the people and make the state a pacesetter again," he stated.

He thanked the patty leaders and members for the trust reposed in him and pleaded for team work and full support as the party aims for victory in the upcoming governorship election in the state.

The party had earlier on Sunday declared Dr. Obadiah Mailafia as its Presidential candidate for the 2019 election.

According to the National Chairman of the party, Mailafia who was formerly a Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, emerged through a credible, free and fair election, devoid of vote buying.
