I received the death of three journalists and others that were involved in a fatal auto accident along Osu road in Osun state yesterday with shock and sadness.
Given the hazards associated with the journalism profession, losing three of the members of the Forth Estate of the Realm at a one fell swoop while other sustained various degrees of injury in an accident is a death too many, especially coming on the eve of the 8th day fidau prayer of the doyen of journalism, Alhaji Alade Odunewu who died recently.
On behalf of myself and my teeming supporters in Osun state, I wish to express my heartfelt condolence to the national leadership of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Oyo and Lagos councils that were also affected in the accident.
May God grant the NUJ family and the family of the bereaved the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
