The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of freezing the bank accounts of Ademola Adeleke, its governorship candidate in the Osun state election.

In a statement on Saturday, the party alleged that the anti-graft agency froze the accounts of Adeleke and those of his family members including David Adeleke, Afropop singer popularly known as Davido.
While describing the alleged act as “oppressive, tyrannical and a direct recipe for crisis” in the state, it called on President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently direct the commission to unfreeze the accounts.
In the statement by Kola Ologbondiyan, its spokesman, the party said “the freezing of the Adelekes’ accounts by an agency of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government, a week to the governorship election, underscores the fact that APC is mortally afraid of our candidate and has been seeking ways to undermine his electoral fortunes”.
“Such savage attack on innocent citizens confirms the viciousness of the Buhari-led APC administration to use any means whatsoever to subjugate Nigerians and appropriate power to itself at all cost,” it added.
“Moreover. the people of Osun state are completely behind Senator Adeleke and will freely vote for him irrespective of the machinations of the Buhari-Ied APC.”
When CEOAFRICA source  reached out to Wilson Uwajuren, EFCC spokesman, to confirm the allegation but he neither picked several calls made to his line nor replied a text message sent.
Adeleke, who currently represents Osun west senatorial district, will slug it out in the September 22 election with his main contender Gboyega Oyetola, the APC candidate.
