The Ekiti State House of Assembly has approved the N9.9 billion supplementary appropriation presented to it by the Governor, Ayodele Fayose.

The lawmakers who had commenced a three-month recess on July 16, briefly reconvened to attend to the governor’s request on Thursday.

The Chairman of the House of Assembly Committee on Information, Mr Samuel Omotosho, said 15 members passed the revised appropriation.

“A responsible government reviews budget estimates for the good of the people. On criticism about the timing, the past government of Dr kayode Fayemi also did something like this exactly one month to the expiration of its tenure, so It’s the norm,” he explained.

The Ekiti State House of Assembly had initially passed the 2018 Appropriation Bill of 98.6 billion last year.

But with this revision, recurrent expenditure has been increased from N66.5 billion to N74.8 billion, while capital expenditure moved up from N32 billion to N33.7 billion making a total of N108.5 billion.
