On Tuesday Forbes released the list of Africa richest persons for the year 2018.

These men have distinguished themselves in various sector of the economy

ALIKO DANGOTE

For the seventh year in a row, Nigerian cement and commodities tycoon Aliko Dangote has top the charts of the richest men in Africa.

Forbes pegs his net worth at $12.2 billion.

His most valuable asset is cement with others as sugar and flour.

The 61-year-old is however diversifying into investing in fertilizer production and oil refinery.

NICKY OPPENHEIMER

Second on the chart is a South African who majors in diamond mining, Nicky Oppenheimer.

With a net worth of $7.7 billion, Oppenheimer is one of 8 South Africans on the list, making it the African country with the most billionaires.

JOHANN RUPERT

Johann Rupert is chairman of Swiss luxury goods firm best known for the brands, Cartier and Montblanc.

His net worth is $7.2 billion, and hails from South Africa.

He is chancellor of the University of Stellenbosch and owns two of the best South African vineyards.

NASSEF SAWIRIS

With a net worth of $6.8 billion, Nassef Sawiris is Egypt’s richest man and forth richest man in Africa.

He had an increase from $5.3 billion a year ago thanks to upticks in the share price of several of his holdings: shoemaker Adidas, cement giant LaFargeHolcim, and fertilizer maker OCI.

MIKE ADENUGA

Mike Adenuga stands as the fifth richest man in Africa and the second in Nigeria.

He made his fortune from mobile telecommunication and oil production.

His net worth is $5.3 billion.

ISSAD REBRAB

Issad Rebrab is an Algerian entrepreneur with a net worth of $4 billion making him the sixth richest person in Africa.

According to Forbes, his privately owned conglomerate which made him Algeria’s first billionaire produces sugar, margarine and vegetable oil.

NAGUIB SAWIRIS

Naguib Sawiris is known as one of Egypt’s telecom moguls who have a 20,000 employees company that manage 11 GSM operators around the globe.

He has a net worth of $4 billion.

KOOS BEKKER

Koos Bekker is a South African media tycoon who chairs the leading merging markets media group, Naspers operating in 130 countries.

His net worth of $2.8 billion makes him the eight richest man in Africa.

MOHAMED MONSUR

Mohamed Monsur’s net worth of $2.7 billion makes him the ninth richest man in Africa.

His company’s operation span internationally across major industrial sectors like, automotive, capital market, consumer and retail industrial equipment and services.

PATRICE MOTSEPE

Patrice Motsepe is South Africa’s first and only black richest man with a net worth of $2.4 billion.

With his company’s- Africa Rainbow Minerals interest in platinum, nickel, chrome, iron, manganese, copper, coal and gold, he is regarded as a mining magnate.
