Chrisland University marks Annual Students’ Week

It was a week filled with variety of delightful activities at Chrisland University, Abeokuta as the students marked their annual students’ week which was held between June 27- July 1, 2018.

Series of activities were organized by the student body to celebrate the long awaited occasion. The event kicked off formally with a praise/worship session at the University Chapel.

Some of the dignitaries that attended the event includes the Chancellor and founder of the University, High Chief Dr. Mrs. Winifred Awosika, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Chinedum Peace Babalola, the acting Registrar, Mr. David Olowola and the Acting Bursar, Mr. Gbenga Ogunwole.

There were special presentations including Saxophone worship and ballet dance. The service was rounded off with the Chancellor’s prayer and admonition to the students to be of good character and behavior. She also commended the Vice-Chancellor and the acting registrar for their outstanding performance since they assume office.

The celebration continued on Thursday with the Vice-Chancellor’s message to students which was delivered by Mr. Kunle Alaye.

In her message, she pledged to always promote public speaking and poetry in the University. A debate competition centered on “Marijuana Use: Useful or Harmful” followed immediately with the two colleges well represented. College of Arts, Management and Social Sciences emerged the winner of the keenly contested debate.

Male and female sporting activities also took place, which includes volley ball, table tennis, video gaming competitions also held on Friday and Saturday.

The highlight of the competitions was seen during the inter-college football match that attracted non-sporting students who came to cheer their college for a win. The dramatic match ended 1-0 in favour of the College of Management and Social Sciences.

The night of variety which later held, displayed the various talents deposited in some students. It was a night to be much remembered.

The week-long event was rounded off on Sunday, July 1st in a special thanksgiving service at the University Chapel where the congregation thanked God for a remarkable week of special events.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babalola who attended the morning service also graced the dinner/award night.

She was presented with an award of recognition, so also were other students presented with.
