Ekiti 2018 Governorship Election: APC, PDP, 33 others battle fo1 citizen of the state

The much-awaited governorship election is finally here as residents of Ekiti State are set to make a crucial decision that could shape the state’s development in the next four years.

Accreditation, voting begin in Eleka’s unit

Accreditation and voting have begun simultaneously at Unit 007, Ofamofuru Hall, Ward 2, Okekuru in Ikere, where Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate Prof Kolapo Olusola-Eleka will vote.

 There are 1,103 registered voters in the unit.

Electoral officers were already at the unit by 7am and were seen setting up the hall.

Voters were seen searching for their names on the register posted on the wall.

The Presiding Officer, Layeni Segun, urged the voters to be orderly.

He said voting would end by 2pm, and that the aged and nursing mothers should be allowed to vote first.

Professor  Eleka is expected to arrive soon.

INEC officials arrive

Officials of the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) have started arriving polling booths in the state.

Our reporters monitoring the election report that voters have also started checking their names on the voters list ahead of the exercise.

As early as 6 . 30 am on Saturday morning, voters have started moving to the polling booths in parts of the state.

Though officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are yet to arrive, voters are on  the queues in  Ado Ekiti the state capital.

All is very peaceful as security men manned strategic locations.

Vehicular movement is minimal.
