The Rivers State government has said that the immediate past Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Mbu Joseph Mbu did not achieve his mission in the state, despite coming there with a script.

The state Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Hon. Ezemonye Ezekiel-Amadi, who stated this while answering questions from newsmen at his office in Port Harcourt, also dismissed claims by Mbu that government officials in the state used tinted vehicles to commit crime, including assassinations, describing the redeployed police chief as an unstable character.

Mbu had during a recent visit to the supervising Minister of Education, Chief Nyesom Wike, told his successor, Mr. Tunde Ogunsakin, to watch out for government-owned tinted vehicles, as occupants of such vehicles could be assassins.

But Ezekiel-Amadi faulted redeployed commissioner, even as he queried why Mbu never arrested anyone using tinted vehicles to commit such during ‘his infamous reign’ in the state as the commissioner of Police.

He said; “That comment by Mbu is the most irresponsible thing I have heard from any policeman anywhere in the world. If that is the trend here, how come all the while during infamous rule in the state, he never paraded anybody arrested with such vehicles who are government agent.

“If I describe him (Mbu) as a lunatic, then; I am definitely describing who a lunatic should be. Here is a man, who 13,000 newly recruited teachers had gone to collect their letters of engagement and he went there and shot tear-gas canisters at them.

“Here is a man who claimed that he is a professional and that he has the powers to either grant approval for rallies under the Public Order Act. He claimed he had such powers, he did not know that Justice Anuli Chikere of the Federal High Court, upheld by the Court of Appeal, had nullified the Public Order Act.

He didn’t know and he said he was a professional. Here is a man who, while he was here, hardly paraded any criminal arrested by him. He doesn’t have any pedigree to advice the new Commissioner of because while he was here, he did not do his work as Commissioner of Police.”

Ezekiel-Amadi advised Wike to be careful, if he was employing the services of Mbu, pointing out that the new FCT Police boss told leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Chidi Lloyd things that were unbelievable.

He said; “I am advising Nyesom Wike, if he is employing Mbu as a security man, he should be careful because that guy is not stable. I want you to interview Chidi Lloyd; let him tell you chilling things Mbu told him. Chidi Lloyd is alive.

“Such things can only be said by a man who is unstable. You can talk to all the DPO’s and Area Commanders who have been in this town under Mbu; talk to them privately. They will tell you that the man is definitely not well. He has been under this enunciation that he is going to be appointed an Inspector General of Police, IGP and that is why he had to do what he did.

“Who will appoint Mbu IG of Police? I want to assume that he came to Rivers State with a script; but you can’t you see that he (Mbu) failed in his assignment? He bungled it because he doesn’t have the brain to put together an action plan. So, can those people who sent him look at him again and give him a higher assignment? Yet, he said he is a professional; as far as I am concerned, Mbu is a tout.” ( Leadership)
